Curriculum Overview
PULSE is the EMS and clinical care curriculum of the Falls Training Complex, focused on developing and maintaining the knowledge, skills and clinical judgment required to care for medical and trauma patients. Programming includes certification courses, continuing education, classroom instruction, hands-on labs, realistic patient-care scenarios and specialized clinical training.
PULSE includes AHA programs such as BLS, ACLS and PALS, along with EMS continuing education and future state-level certification or refresher programs. Hands-on training may include airway and intubation labs, intraosseous access, megacode scenarios, trauma and disaster exercises, patient packaging and Tactical EMS. While PULSE may operate within fireground, rescue, hazardous materials or tactical environments, its focus remains the clinical care of the patient.
Programming is designed primarily to support EMS certification and continuing-education requirements while also allowing applicable education for other clinical professionals.

Tactical EMS and SWAT Medic education belong to PULSE: the environment may be tactical, but the primary training objective is clinical care.
Curriculum Scope
PULSE is classified by primary learning objective, not by environment. Hands-on clinical training — intubation and airway labs, IO access, megacode and trauma scenarios, patient packaging based on injury and physiology, disaster drills and Tactical EMS — is PULSE. Firefighting, technical rescue, dive and water rescue, hazardous materials and emergency vehicle operations remain primarily DRILL, and leadership, officer and organizational development remain primarily LEAD; PULSE engages those environments when the focus becomes the medical or trauma patient. Continuing education hours are recorded per course and awarded from actual attendance and completion, never from registration alone, and professional credit for nurses, physicians or other clinicians is displayed only when the course record identifies the CE type, eligible profession, hours, provider and accreditation.

BLS Provider / Renewal
Basic life support certification and renewal covering high-performance CPR, AED use and team resuscitation.
ACLS Provider / Renewal
Advanced cardiovascular life support certification and renewal with megacode and team-leader practice.
12-Lead ECG
Acquisition and interpretation of the 12-lead ECG with emphasis on field recognition of acute coronary syndromes.
Advanced Airway Management
Airway assessment, supraglottic and advanced airway placement, ventilation strategy and confirmation.
Cardiology Workshop
Case-based cardiology education connecting rhythm recognition, pharmacology and field treatment decisions.
Pediatric Emergencies
Assessment and treatment of pediatric medical and traumatic emergencies, including weight-based care.
Trauma
Trauma assessment, hemorrhage control, packaging and transport decision-making for field providers.
Clinical Simulation
High-fidelity simulation scenarios that exercise clinical judgment, crew coordination and communication.
Protocol Review
Structured review of current medical protocols and expected clinical practice for department providers.
CFFD Run Review
Internal case review of department EMS responses supporting quality improvement and continued learning.
